Phone calls and booking jobs
Aug 24, 2020Phone calls and booking jobs-
To start with, right now - create a professional message bank recording for your business phone number.
You can personalise and update it every year, month or day if you like, but don't leave it blank, potential customers will just hang up and ring someone else.
Example:
"Hi there, you have reached [your name here] from [your business here]. I am currently working hard with my earmuffs on. Please leave your name and number or send me a text message and I will get back to you ASAP. Cheers"
It doesn't have to be perfect.
You may also like to add in some relevant information about a specific service you are offering at the time e.g. rose pruning or gutter cleaning etc.
When you do miss a call or receive a new job lead, ring back ASAP! Try to call back in no longer than 1 hour. The longer you leave it, the higher the chance they will call someone else or not answer.
People want a fast and convenient service.
The big franchises like Jims mowing set a standard for their franchisees to call back a new lead within 2 hours max or they may face a bad review. You should aim to beat this.
Generally speaking, if a customer tries to get more than 1 quote they will go with the first person who contacts them and arranges a time.
While you are on the phone to a potential client be polite and clear (obviously).
Never quote over the phone or from pictures, be very clear with this point. Always go to the site so you can quote accurately.
Apart from not being able to quote accurately over the phone you will also have a much higher chance of getting the job after meeting the client and establishing a relationship with them.
When booking a time to visit the property give the customer a timeframe, for example, between 2-4pm, (not at 3pm) this allows you some grace in case you are held up.
If you are going to be late, let them know.
